Capitales Take Final Game of Series

Trailing 2-0 in the series at Stade Canac, the Quebec Capitales scored four runs in the fifth to avoid a sweep and down the New Jersey Jackals 5-2 on Thursday.

A scoreless contest until the fourth inning, the Caps finally scored the games' first run in the home half of the inning on a David Salgiuero RBI single.

Jackals SS Emilio Guerrero connected for the clubs first home run of the season in the top of the fifth. The solo shot tied the game at 1-1.

Melvin Rodriguez cashed in with a two-run single to right field to give Quebec its first lead in the bottom of the inning. Kody Ruedisili then drove in two more runners on a double to cap off a four-run frame.

Trailing 5-1 in the sixth, New Jersey manufactured a run on 1B Conrad Gregor's RBI groundout; bringing in 2B Andrew Dundon.

Quebec pitching had the upper hand in finale, allowing just five hits along the way. P Scott Richmond notched a quality start for the Caps, completing six innings while allowing two earned runs on four hits and striking out eight with no walks.

After a lengthy seven-game road trip to begin 2019, the Jackals get set for its home opener on Friday, May 24th against Trois-Rivieres.
