New York Bluefins News Release

Hyannis, MA - Having not lost a game in 2012, the hometown Bluefins took the ice at the Hyannis Youth & Community Center with a 3 game win streak and a chip on their shoulder. At the 6:24 mark of the first period they drew first blood when Brad Surdam deflected a Billy Tibbets pass past Brooklyn goalie, Richard Scarsella to give the Bluefins a 1-0 lead. The visiting Aviators outshot the Fins 15-11 but goalie Chris Testa kept them off the board and took his team into the locker room with the advantage after the first intermission.

The teams battled through the second period with neither team scoring. It wasn't until early in period 3 that Derek Scanlon fired a hard slap shot from the blue line that found it's way through many bodies and into the back of the net. Assists went to Brad Surdam and Billy Tibbetts. The Bluefins scored again at 11:58 when Cape native, Andrew Hutton fed Tibbetts for his 9th goal of the season. The home team was on top 3-0 and in control. Brooklyn finally scored at 15:16 when Nick Petriello took a feed from Brendan Baumgartner and beat Bluefin goalie, Chris Testa for his first goal of the season. Cape Cod got an insurance goal from Captain Kevin McReady at 16:41. For Mcready, it was his 18th on the season. The Aviators got a late goal from Jesse Felten but it was too late and the Fins are undefeated in 2012. Final shots on goal were 31 - 30 in favor of the Bluefins.

The 3 stars of the game went to Testa, Surdam and Tibbetts.

The Bluefins next home games are on January 20th and 21st at 7:05 pm and the team will honor the Cape Cod High School Super Bowl Champions from Dennis Yarmouth, Bourne and Mashpee. Tickets can be purchased on line at www.capecodbluefins.com or at the Hyannis Youth & Community Center box office prior to the game. High School Students from those schools can purchase tickets for the $3 group rate and all youth hockey players will receive free admission if they wear there game jerseys.
