The Canton Charge (3-3), presented by SecureData 365 and powered by the Cleveland Cavaliers, overpowered the Maine Red Claws (4-2) for a 99-88 victory on Sunday evening. The win pulls the Charge to .500 in the young season both overall and at home (2-2).

Beginning with 10:54 left in the first, the Charge led for the entire rest of the first half and by as many as 12. Canton cleaned the glass for 29 first half rebounds and were aggressive enough offensively to get to the line 20 times as a team. The hosts were led by Cavaliers assignment Alex Kirk's 12 points (6-9 FGA) and held a 51-39 lead at intermission.

Canton maintained their advantage for the entire duration of the second half, immediately responding with a basket the only two times Maine cut the game to a single possession. The Charge finished the night outrebounding the Red Claws 50-36 and hit at least 50% of their attempts from the field for the second-straight game, as they went 36-of-72 (50%) as a unit.

Arinze Onuaku posted his second double in as many games with 12 points on 5-of-8 shooting, 16 rebounds, and four assists in 37 minutes. Kirk finished with 16 points on 7-of-13 shooting and six boards in 30 minutes. Justin Johnson came off the bench to provide clutch, run-stopping buckets en route to a team-high 18 points on 7-of-10 shooting. Stephen Holt added 17 points and seven rebounds in 30 minutes for Canton.

Jermaine Taylor paced Maine with his game-high 22 points on 8-of-18 shooting, seven rebounds, and four assists in 34 minutes. Tim Frazier supplied the Red Claws with 14 points, eight rebounds, and four steals in 38 minutes. Omari Johnson netted 14 points with six boards in 20 minutes off the bench, while Christian Watford added 18 points in 30 minutes for the visitors.
