Washington Stealth News Release

Last Chance to RSVP for Sticks-2-Schools Fundraiser Oct. 16!

Last Spring, the Sticks-2-Schools program was introduced to Washington and visited schools in the Puget Sound region, introducing students to the benefits of a healthy lifestyle. With over 80 schools on the waiting list for this great program, Sticks-2-Schools is teaming up with the Washington Stealth for a fundraiser at Tech City Bowl in Kirkland, Wash., on October 16 to introduce more children to lacrosse as a way to get active and stay fit.

The Tech City Bowl fundraiser will help to provide more students in Washington the opportunity to learn about the benefits of a healthy lifestyle through lacrosse. Those in attendance will be treated to an afternoon of bowling, arcade games and snacks with numerous players from the Washington Stealth, as well as the Bombshells dance team and the Stealth mascot, Bomber the Fox. The event will be held from 1pm-3pm on Sunday, October 16.

The list of Stealth players and Bombshells attending the event continues to grow. You will have an opportunity to meet Stealth stars Tyler Richards, Jeff Zywicki, Chris McElroy, Curtis Hodgson and Justin Salt along with Bombshells Jillian, Monae, Meghan and Sarah! Plus, you never know what shenanigans will ensue when Stealth mascot Bomber the Fox is around!

Tickets for the event are just $25 for adults and $15 for children under 13 years old. There will also be an auction including great prizes and Stealth memorabilia. All of the money raised during the event will go towards equipment, curriculum guides and instruction for local schools on the Sticks-2-Schools waiting list. Tech City Bowl is located at 13033 NE 70th Place, Kirkland, WA 98033.

To RSVP for the event, send an email to community@stealthlax.com, or call Sticks-2-Schools coordinator Breanna Kernan at (425) 322-2623. For more information on Sticks-2-Schools, visit www.sticks2schools.org.

2012 Bombshells Selected

The Washington Stealth has announced the selections for the 2012 Bombshells Dance Team. The 18-member squad was selected from a pool of forty women who appeared at the Bombshells auditions on October 2 at the Comcast Arena at Everett.

The Bombshells, the National Lacrosse League's premiere dance team, performs at all Stealth home games at the Comcast Arena at Everett and also appears at numerous community and special events throughout the year. This year, the team features ten first-year members and eight dancers returning from a year ago.

The selection process included a five-hour audition at the Comcast Arena, where dancers learned and performed a dance routine in groups and answered interview questions. The judges, led by Bombshells Director Jillian Boprey and Jenn Carrington, owner of the Auburn Dance Academy, narrowed down the candidates throughout the day, ultimately selecting 18 members for the 2012 Bombshells. The team harbors some of the finest dance talent in Washington, with many members boasting professional dance experience with the Seattle Seahawks and Supersonics on their resumes.

"I was really impressed by the turnout and the quality of performers that came to auditions," said Boprey. "The girls really put their best foot forward and pushed themselves through a long day. I'm so pleased with our final team and can't wait to see our growth in the coming months."

The Bombshells will be performing at Stealth games throughout the 2012 season, which begins on January 14 when the Stealth hosts the Calgary Roughnecks at the Comcast Arena. Season tickets start at just $99 and are available by calling 877-MY-75-TIX or at www.stealthlax.com.
