Canaries Drop Jackson Opener vs. Goldeyes

JACKSON, Tenn. - The Sioux Falls Canaries (11-11) dropped the series opener in Jackson to the Winnipeg Goldeyes 8-5 Friday night. Mitch Glasser, Angelo Altavilla and Mike Hart all finished with two hits.

Carlos Pimentel got the start on the mound for the Birds and allowed five runs (five earned) in four innings of work. Colby Wyatt (0-1) took the loss on the mound after allowing two runs (two earned) in 2.1 innings of relief. Reliever Travis Seabrooke (1-0) earned the win by limiting the Canaries to one hit and no runs in the sixth, seventh and eighth. Jose Jose earned his first save with 1.2 innings of scoreless relief.

The Birds built a 5-2 lead going to the bottom of the second but were unable to score thereafter. Jabari Henry, Trey Michalczewski, Wyatt Ulrich and Hart all notched RBIs. Altavilla laced a pair of doubles and finished with one run scored.

The Birds have now lost four straight but will look to get back on track tomorrow behind LHP Ty Culbreth (4-0, 2.12 ERA). Winnipeg (8-12) will counter with RHP Christian James (1-1, 5.02 ERA). First pitch is slated for 6:30 pm CT. Fans can tune into a live stream via Fox Sports 98.1 FM.

The Canaries will be back home on Tuesday, June 15 to start a series against the Miluakee Milkmen. Tuesday night will be another Groovy Tunesday!
