
Canadiens Sign Goaltender Sanford

MONTREAL, QC -Montreal Canadiens General Manager Bob Gainey announced today the signing of goaltender Curtis Sanford to a one-year, two-way contract for the 2009-2010 season. As per club policy, financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
Sanford, 29, competed in 35 games over the past two seasons with the Vancouver Canucks compiling a record of 11-11-1 along with a 2.69 goals-against average a .903 save percentage and one shutout. The 5-foot-10, 187-pound netminder also played in 16 regular season games with the Manitoba Moose in 2008-2009 earning a 7-3-3 record, a 1.73 goals-against average, two shutouts and a .936 save percentage. Since 2002-2003, the native of Owen Sound, Ontario has a record of 37-37-16 with a .901 save percentage, five shutouts and a 2.76 goals-against average in 108 regular-season NHL games with St. Louis and Vancouver. In 172 regular season AHL games, Sanford has a record of 77-65-17, a 2.38 goals-against average, 14 shutouts and a .915 save percentage. Sanford made his professional debut in 1999-2000 with the UHL's Missouri River Otters and took part in the ECHL All-Star game in 2001-2002.
