DURHAM, NC - The Can-Am League's official statistician, PA-Sportsticker, has selected New Jersey Jackals INF Chris Kelly and Quebec Capitales RHP Luis Valdez as the Teamline Direct Batter and Pitcher of the Week.

Kelly batted .440 (11-for-25) in six games this past week hitting three home runs with nine RBI and nine runs scored. He collected four doubles to go along with a slugging percentage of 1.040 and a .440 on-base percentage. On the season, Kelly is hitting .337 with four home runs, 19 RBI and 15 runs scored. The Las Vegas, NV resident is first in the league in extra base hits (14), second in RBIs, tied for second in doubles (9), tied for third in hits (31) and home runs and fifth in slugging percentage at .587.

The 26-year-old was drafted by the Chicago White Sox in the sixth round of the 2003 draft.

Valdez hurled a complete game shutout in the 9-0 win over the Worcester Tornadoes in game two of a doubleheader this past Wednesday night. The 24-year-old allowed only one hit with two walks and four strikeouts. Valdez is currently 4-0 with a 0.42 ERA in five games. He leads the Can-Am League in ERA and tied for first in wins and shutouts.

The Dominican Republic native was signed as a nondrafted free agent by the Cleveland Indians in June of 2003.
