New Jersey 4, New York 3

The Jackals of New Jersey took a three-run lead in the middle innings and closer Jeff Gogal struck out the side in the ninth to preserve a three-run win. Jackals DH Mike Jones only had one hit. But that one hit counted, as he batted in two runs in the fifth, starting a three-run inning that gave the Jackals all the runs they would need. New York threatened to come back in the eighth, putting up two runs to cut the New Jersey lead to one. But the ninth inning was dominated by Gogal and his three strikeouts. The reliever now has nine saves and 31 strikeouts in 23 innings of work. Jackals 1B Nick Giarraputo and 3B Kris Sanchez each went 2-for-3 to lead their club in hits. Giarraputo scored a run and Sanchez batted in one of the team's three fifth-inning scores.

Pittsfield 6, Worcester 3

Colonials starting pitcher Patrick Moran struck out 10 Tornadoes batters on Friday, allowing only five hits and three walks in six and two-thirds innings. Moran exited the game with a 4-2 lead, eventually earning his sixth win of the season when the game ended with Pittsfield on top, 6-3. Pittsfield 2B/3B Danny Bomback kicked off the Colonials scoring with a one-run sac fly to tie the score at one run apiece. Pittsfield took the lead on an error on Worcester C Alex Trezza and never looked back. Bomback finished the game 2-for-4 with two RBI. Colonials reliever Chris rubio relieved Moran in the seventh and earned a long save, going two and a third innings and allowing one run on two hits. Tornadoes 2B Abraham Nunez scored two of Worcester's three runs, going 2-for-3 with two walks, raising his batting average to .307.

Quebec 9, Rockland 8

A pair of two-out rallies made for an interesting ninth inning at Le Stade Municipal on Friday. After watching Rockland tie the score on a last-chance, bases-loaded walk, the Capitales answered back with a run of their own in the bottom of the inning to take a 9-8 win. Quebec 2B Josh Colafemina did the honors, singling in LF Mitch Delaney from second to give the home fans something to cheer about. Colafemina, batting ninth, went 3-for-5 with two runs and three RBI, including a two-run single that kicked off a five-run sixth for the Capitales. Rockland answered back with five runs of their own in the seventh. But the Boulders never took a lead in the game, setting the stage for Quebec's dramatic ninth-inning win.

Brockton 9, Newark 6

The top third of the Rox lineup went 9-for-13, scored four runs and batted in five to power Brockton's 9-6 win over Newark. Two-hole-hitting 3B Mike Torres led all players with four hits (in four at-bats), scored twice and batted in a run. The Rox scored a run in each of the final three innings to earn their three-run win. The bullpen came through in a big way for Brockton, as the trio of Jimmer Kennedy, Jake Loye and Jake Hale allowed just one run in three and a third innings while striking out two Bears batters and preserving starting pitcher Julian Sampson's win. Sampson threw five and two-thirds innings, giving up five runs with five strikeouts. The majority of the Newark offense - in contrast to Brockton - came from the bottom of the lineup, with seventh man in the lineup Burt Reynolds hitting a homer to bolster his 2-for-4 night. Reynolds batted in two and scored twice.
