Quebec 13, New Jersey 5
Down 4-1 through five and a half innings, Quebec erupted for 12 runs over the next three frames to take Game 2 of their best-of-five series with New Jersey 13-5. Ivan Naccarata and Josh Colafemina delivered four-hit nights for the Capitales, with Colafemina falling a home run short of the cycle. Rene Leveret (pictured) slugged two home runs for Quebec and drove in four. Jayson Miller was effective as the Jackals starting pitcher, holding the Capitales to three earned runs in 5.1 innings, but the bullpen couldn't keep Quebec's potent lineup quiet much longer. Michel Simard recorded the win for Quebec for his 7.1 innings of work, surrendering New Jersey's five runs. Mike DeJesus had a four-hit night for the Jackals, and Jacob Butler smacked a three-run homer in the loss. The two teams meet again Saturday night at 7:05 PM EST in New Jersey with Quebec holding a commanding 2-0 series lead. Karl Gelinas will get the start for the Capitales while Isaac Pavlik will try to force Game 4 for New Jersey.
Pittsfield 7, Brockton 6
Down 6-5 in the ninth, Pittsfield rallied for two runs for a thrilling come-from-behind win over Brockton to take a 2-1 series lead in their best-of-five playoff series. After Angel Molina led off the ninth with a walk, Jason Taylor delivered an RBI triple. Brockton reliever Colin Lynch then walked the bases loaded before Quentin Davis drove a fly ball to left to score the winning run on a sacrifice fly. Pittsfield got on the board first for the third consecutive night when Danny Bomback came around to score on Daniel Carte's double. Brockton responded for six runs however, grabbing two in the second on a Derek Kinzler single, and three in the fifth on home runs from Scott Wearne and Keith Brachold. Chris Valencia singled home a run in the sixth for the Rox to cap the team's scoring. The Colonials bullpen combined for four shutout innings however, surrendering just three baserunners and giving Pittsfield a chance to get back in the game. The team did just that by erupting for four in the sixth off of Brockton starting pitcher Freddy Flores thanks to a pair of two-run home runs from Carte and Taylor. Matt Lyons earned the win for Pittsfield by recording the final two outs of the top of the ninth before the drama of the bottom of the frame. The two teams meet again Saturday night at 6:00 PM EST in Pittsfield, with the Colonials now holding a 2-1 series advantage.
