Worcester 6, Sussex 1
Worcester RHP John Kelly struck out twelve in seven innings of work, surrendering just a Nick Giarraputo home run in the second in a 6-1 Worcester win over Sussex. Kelly improved to 9-4 with a 3.79 ERA on the season, and has struck out more than a batter per inning. 1B Nick Salotti and RF Billy Cather each slugged two-run home runs and enjoyed multi-hit games for the Tornadoes. Player of the Week Mark Minicozzi added two hits and two runs scored from the three hole.
Brockton 7, Quebec 3
After being stifled by starting pitcher Dan Sausville for seven innings, Brockton broke through against the Quebec bullpen with an eight-run eighth to beat the Capitales 7-3. After a two-run bases loaded single from Shawn Williams with no outs to start the inning, Brockton got to typically dominant Capitales' closer for three runs before he finally put out the fire. The bullpen blowup cost Sausville a chance at a victory after surrendering just four hits and striking out three in seven shutout innings. CF Goefrey Tomlinson reached base five times for Quebec in the loss, and 1B Pete LaForest swatted two solo home runs.
Pittsfield 10, New Jersey 4
RHP Miguel Flores surrendered just one earned run in 6.1 innings of work, striking out six batters as Pittsfield topped New Jersey 10-4. Pittsfield's offense got to Pitcher of the Week Isaac Pavlik, touching him up for six runs in six innings and pounding out 14 hits on the day. 2B Danny Bomback went 4-for-5 with a pair of doubles, and SS Matt Nandin had three hits and three RBI apiece for the Colonials. 3B Abraham Nunez had two hits and 1B Jabe Bergeron hit a two-run double in the eighth for New Jersey.
