Quebec LF Nestor Smith scored the game's only run in the bottom of the seventh inning off a Simon Legare RBI double to get the Capitales the 1-0 victory. The win by the Capitales plus the North Shore loss to Brockton gives Quebec a ½ game lead in the Can-Am. Quebec starting pitcher Eric Cyr was tremendous tonight as he went eight innings allowing only two hits with four strikeouts. Brian Dumesnil came on in the ninth to notch his first save of the season for Quebec. Worcester starter Alex Pena was also sensational tonight in taking the tough luck loss as he went seven innings allowing the game's only run on six hits.

New Haven County 12, New Jersey 2

HR: NHC-Derrick Gibson (11), Chas Terni 2 (6), Chris Gaskin (3); NJ-Guillermo Reyes (4)

New Haven County rolled out to a 5-0 lead after the first inning and would cruise on to an easy win over the Jackals. The Cutters hammered out 17 hits in the game and hit four home runs. The Terni brothers, Jeremy and Chas, had a great evening as they combined to go 5-for-9 with five runs scored and six RBI. Chas hit two home runs, which brings him to six on the year. Justin Knoff picks up the win going 7 1/3 innings giving up two earned runs on six hits with five punchouts. For the Jackals, they were led by SS Guillermo Reyes who had a 2-for-4 outing including his fourth homer of the season.

Nashua 5, Sussex 3

@ Augusta, NJ. Time: 3:03 Attendance: 5,022

RF Jayson Bass went 3-for-5 with two runs scored and an RBI to lead the Pride over the Skyhawks and get their second straight victory. Nashua scored two runs early in the first inning and would never look back. Dan Reichert notched his eighth win of the season for Nashua as he went seven innings giving up three runs, two earned, on five hits with nine strikeouts. The nine strikeouts by Reichert brings his season total to 82 and that is good for a tie for third with Brockton's John Kelly in the Can-Am League. DH Rich Daly was 2-for-3 with a run scored for Sussex.

Brockton 6, North Shore 4

1B Francisco Lebron and C Jason Radwan went a combined 4-for-8 with two runs scored and four RBI to help the Rox edge the Spirit and close to within a game of first place Quebec. Lebron also chipped in with his sixth home run of the season. John Kelly picked up his league leading 10th win of the season going five strong innings allowing only an earned run on nine hits with five strikeouts. Kyle George pitched a scoreless eighth and ninth inning to pick up his third save of the season. For North Shore, who now drop a ½ game behind Quebec for first place in the league, LF Luis Sabino had four hits in five plate appearances with a run scored.
