NEW JERSEY 7, QUEBEC 3 @ Quebec City, Quebec. Time: 2:08 ATT: 3,015 W: Josh Brey (6-3) L: Rick Kirsten (3-4) S: None HR: None New Jersey broke a 3-3 deadlock with a four-run seventh to defeat Quebec 7-3, their first victory at Le Stade since 2003. Down 2-0, New Jersey got a bases-clearing double from 1B John Lindsey in the third to take a 3-2 lead. An RBI single from Capitales C Olivier Lepine tied the game in the sixth, but the Jackals responded with four in the seventh, including a two-run single from 2B Joe Jiannetti. Josh Brey pitched a complete game for the victory, limiting Quebec to four hits and striking out seven. 3B Eddie Lantigua's RBI groundout in the first broke the Capitales' all-time record for RBI in a season (75). ----------------------------------------------------------------------- GRAYS 4, NEW HAVEN COUNTY 2, Game 1 @ West Haven, Conn. Time: 2:06 W: Lincoln Mincks (6-3) L: Rolando Valles (3-5) S: Randy Rapp (9) HR: None The Grays got a solid outing from starter Lincoln Mincks and a 3-for-4 game from 2B BJ Weed to notch their first victory of the second half, 4-2 over New Haven County. Mincks went six innings for his sixth victory of the season, giving up two runs on eight hits, while Randy Rapp came in to get his ninth save of the season. The Grays got two in the first on an RBI single from 1B Francisco Lebron and an RBI double from DH Charles Peterson, and two more in the third on C Brad Hargreaves' two-run single. The Cutters' runs came in the fourth on RBI singles from DH Orlando Encarnacion and C Andy Larned. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- NEW HAVEN COUNTY 10, GRAYS 3, Game 2 @ West Haven, Conn. Time: 2:29 ATT: 1,008 W: Jarrett Stawarz (5-4) L: Brad Esarey (1-5) S: None HR: NHC - Chas Terni (4), Derrick Gibson (9), Bill Peavey (10) New Haven County earned the twinbill split in the nightcap, belting three two-run home runs as part of a 10-3 victory. Things started off with a homer from the second batter of the game, SS Chas Terni, while the reigning Can-Am League Player of the Week, Cutters DH Derrick Gibson, added a two-run shot of his own in a four-run fourth. After New Haven added two more in the sixth, Cutters 1B Bill Peavey finished the scoring with a jack in the seventh. The Grays got their runs on an RBI groundout in the second and RBI singles from LF Greg Strickland and 3B Jason Startari in the fourth. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- NORTH SHORE 7, WORCESTER 5 @ Lynn, Mass. Time: 3:18 ATT: 1,608 W: Bryan Morse (8-2) L: Mike Cox (1-3) S: Alex Herrera (1) HR: WOR - Danilo Reynoso (9), NS - Travis Oglesby (14), Brian Macchi (4) North Shore erased a 3-0 deficit and scored all of their runs in the sixth inning or later, getting by Worcester 7-5. DH Travis Oglesby led the Spirit charge by going 3-for-4 with two RBI and a seventh-inning solo homer, while RF Brian Macchi knocked a two-run blast in the sixth. Down 4-3, North Shore rallied for four runs in an eighth inning that included RBI singles from CF Rob Fischer and 1B Vic Davilla, two wild pitches, and a sac fly from Oglesby.
