Quebec 5, Sussex County 2

Quebec continued to play solid baseball as they notched their fifth straight win in a 5-2 decision over Sussex County. The Capitales scored single runs in the second, third and fourth innings to jump ahead 3-0 and would cruise from there to take game one in a battle of the league's top two teams.

Center fielder Kalian Sams led the offense for Quebec going 2-for-3 with a home run and two RBI. Capitales LF James McOwen also added a blast in a 2-for-3 night while 3B Brad Antchak doubled and drove in a run.

Quebec starting pitcher Jay Johnson tossed five shutout innings to pick-up his first win of the season. Johnson allowed six hits while striking out seven batters in a 79-pitch performance. The bullpen trio of Andrew Elliott, Trevor Bayless and Nolan Becker gave up a pair of runs in the final four innings of the contest with Becker earning his fifth save.

Rockland 15, Trois-Rivieres 7

The Rockland Boulders exploded for 13 runs in the first five innings of the contest, including seven in the fifth, to roll to an 15-7 victory over Trois-Rivieres. Rockland pounded out 17 hits in the game with eight of the nine batters in the line up collecting at least two. Boulders CF Mike Montville went 3-for-4 with a home run, three runs scored and four RBIs while SS JC Rodriguez added a blast and drove in three in a 2-for-5 game. Rockland 1B Mikael Mogues also chipped in with three hits, three runs and four RBIs.

Boulders starter David Palladinogave up three earned runs over five innings of work to collect the win. Palladino had seven hits and nine strikeouts in the 91 pitches thrown. With the victory, the righty is now 1-0 on the year.

For the Aigles, who had 12 hits in the game, SS Sam Dexter had a 3-for-4 night with two runs scored and an RBI.

New Jersey 6, Ottawa 4 (10 Innings)

New Jersey scored a pair of runs in the 10th inning off an error and a wild pitch to nab a 6-4 win over Ottawa. The Jackals, who have now won four straight, trailed 4-3 going into the ninth inning before 3B/PR Rony Cabrera scored on a sacrifice fly from 1B/3B Daniel Canela to tie the contest up. The game would eventually go into extra innings where New Jersey plated the two runs in the 10th as DH Nolan Meadows scored off an error from Ottawa 2B Tyler Nordgren and C Kevin Torres came home on a wild pitch. The Champions would threaten in the bottom frame but could not score.

The Jackals had 13 hits in the contest with five batters having multi-hit games. New Jersey 1B Dean Green went 2-for-4 with a home run and three RBIs while Torres added a pair of hits in five at-bats and plated a run.

Jackals pitcher Jose Velez tossed a scoreless ninth inning to earn the victory. Velez gave up a walk while striking out one in the three batters faced. The southpaw is now 2-1 on the year.

For the Champions, SS Daniel Bick went 3-for-5 with a home run and two RBIs.
