Can-Am League Game Recaps

Trois-Rivieres 9, Ottawa 3
The Trois-Rivieres Aigles clinched the final spot in the Can-Am League playoffs this afternoon as they defeated the Ottawa Champions by a 9-3 score. The game was scoreless through three innings until Trois-Rivieres plated five runs in the top of the fourth to take a 5-0 lead and would roll on from there to the big victory. Aigles 1B Daniel Mateo led the charge offensively going 3-for-5 with a run scored and four RBI. Trois-Rivieres SS Pedro Lopez had three hits and scored three runs while RF Javier Herrera had a pair of hits, a RBI and three runs scored. Aigles starting pitcher Ryan Bollinger tossed seven shutout innings en route to his 11th win of the year. Bollinger gave up two walks and four hits and fanned nine Ottawa batters.
Rockland 5, Sussex County 0
Rockland starting pitcher Marcus Jensen and two relievers combined a four-hit shutout as the Boulders defeated the Sussex County Miners by a 5-0 final. Jensen went the first seven innings giving up only two hits and striking out two batters. The righty earned the win and improved his mark to 8-2 on the season. The two relievers, Chad Robinson and Luis Sanz, each tossed an inning of work combining to allow two hits and fanning a hitter. Offensively for Rockland, Can-Am League's Player of the Year 1B Joe Maloney led the way going 3-for-4 with a home run and four RBI. For Sussex County in the loss, RF Ryan Mathews had a perfect 3-for-3 at the plate.
