New Jersey 5, Newark 2
Jackals SS Angel Berroa drove in Bryan Sabatella from third, doubling his team's one-run lead in the seventh inning. Two frames later, New Jersey had won, 5-2. Berroa went 2-for-3 on the night with a double, one of only two players with multiple hits. Newark took a 1-0 lead in the second inning when RF Burt Reynolds hit his seventh home run of the year. Reynolds went 1-for-3, accounting for a quarter of his club's hits. Starting Jackals pitcher Steve Fox struck out nine over eight innings while allowing two runs on three hits and two walks. Fox has 58 strikeouts on the year with 23 walks.
Rockland 11, Quebec 6
Rockland SS Chris Valencia went 3-for-5 and scored twice from the leadoff spot, helping lead his club to an 11-6 win over Quebec. Valencia - who hit his sixth double of the season - was one of four Boulders batters with multiple hits. Trailing, 1-0, in the bottom of the fourth inning, Rockland plated five runs to take their first lead of the contest. 2B Cole Kraft singled in the first two runs to put his club ahead, 2-1. Kraft went 1-for-4 with a run and two RBI, all in the big fourth frame. Quebec leadoff SS Jeff Helps went 2-for-5 and scored a run but couldn't help the Capitales rally late.
El Paso 4, Worcester 1 (7 innings)
The Diablos scored three runs in the bottom of the fourth inning, breaking a 1-1 tie and propelling themselves to a 4-1victory over Worcester of the Can-Am League. El Paso LF JJ Muse doubled in the final two runs of the frame. Muse - batting ninth - went 2-for-2 on the night. The Tornadoes had tied the score earlier in the inning on an Alex Nunez single. Nunez went 2-for-3 on the night. Starting El Paso pitcher Freddy Flores worked around trouble all night, surrendering only one run on 10 hits in six innings to pick up the win.
