Rockland 5, Pittsfield 3 (Game 1 - 7 Innings)
Rockland used a two-run first inning to take a 5-3 win against Pittsfield in game one of a doubleheader. Boulders 3B Ryan Mollica hit a two-run home run in the top of the first, his only hit of the game. Rockland LF Norm Hutchins had two hits and an RBI, and 2B Joe Hage went 1-for-2 with an RBI. Rockland starting pitcher Jonathan Velasquez earned the win and conceded two runs on three hits in 5.2 innings pitched. Adrian Martin conceded a run in his one inning pitched but still earned the save for Rockland. Pittsfield 1B Angel Molina had a home run and two RBIs in the loss.
Rockland 9, Pittsfield 2 (Game 2 - 7 Innings)
Rockland routed Pittsfield 9-2 to sweep both games of a doubleheader. Boulders 3B Ryan Mollica, who also homered in game one, went 2-for-4 at the plate in game two with two RBIs and a home run. Rockland RF Jeremy Slayden went 3-for-4 with two RBIs and two runs scored, and C Scott Clement chipped in with two RBIs as well. Starting pitcher Will Hassett earned the win for Rockland by pitching all seven innings and conceding just two runs on five hits. Colonials LF Billy Mottram homered in a losing effort for Pittsfield.
Brockton 5, Quebec 4 (Game 1 - 7 Innings)
Brockton RF Keith Brachold had two RBIs to help lead the Rox to a 5-4 victory over Quebec in game one of a doubleheader. Brachold went 2-for-3 at the plate with a triple and a run scored. Rox 1B Trey Hernandez, DH Melvin Falu and C Chris Grossman all had one hit and one RBI each in the game. Starting pitcher Freddy Flores earned the win for Brockton, pitching five innings and conceding four runs on four hits. Quebec 1B Rene Leveret homered and had two RBIs in the loss.
Newark 8, New York 4
The Newark Bears capitalized on the long ball as they defeated the New York Federals by a score of 8-4. Bears LF Brandon Watson homered and collected three RBIs in the game. Bears DH Burt Reynolds and SS Juan Martinez each hit a solo homer for Newark as well. Reynolds and Watson led Newark with three RBIs each. Newark starting pitcher Casey Gaynor earned the win for the Bears. New York LF Steve Detwiler hit a double and a solo home run in a losing effort.
Worcester 2, New Jersey 1
In a game where hits were a premium and good pitching dominated, Worcester edged New Jersey for a 2-1 win. Tornadoes starting pitcher Shawn Gilblair pitch ¬ed 7.2 strong innings and was credited with the win. Gilblair allowed one unearned run on just three hits while striking out eight hitters. Worcester CF Cameron Monger batted in both of the Tornadoes' runs in the game. Monger hit an RBI double in the second inning and hit an RBI single in the fourth. Catcher Alex Trezza doubled and scored a run for Worcester. Rick Asadoorian worked a scoreless ninth to earn the save for Worcester. Despite the loss, New Jersey starting pitcher Isaac Pavlik pitched well, allowing just two runs on five hits in eight innings pitched.
Brockton - Quebec (Game 2 - Still in Progress)
Game two of Brockton and Quebec's doubleheader is still in progress. The game went into extra innings and Brockton currently leads 3-2 in the bottom of the eighth inning.
