Pittsfield 8, New York 0

The Pittsfield Colonials plated five runs in the seventh inning en route to an 8-0 victory against New York. Colonials RF Peter Fatse hit a sacrifice fly in the second inning that scored LF Billy Mottram and gave Pittsfield a 1-0 lead. That lead was doubled later in the inning when DH Rafael Cabreja singled in 3B Johnny Welch. The Colonials tallied five runs in the bottom of the seventh. Second baseman Danny Bomback led off the inning with a solo home run, and Fatse and Cabreja each picked up an RBI in the inning. Also in the seventh frame, C Scott Knazek picked up two RBIs with a single. Colonials starting pitcher David Qualben tossed eight scoreless innings, striking out five batters and scattering six hits to earn the win. For New York, CF Stephen Pinto went 1-for-3 at the plate with a double.

Newark 8, Brockton 7

Newark 2B Paddy Matera's game-winning RBI single was the difference as the Bears beat the Brockton Rox 8-7 in a back-and-forth game. Bears DH Daryle Ward's RBI single in the bottom of the first gave Newark an early 1-0 lead, but the Rox tied the score 1-1 with a run in the top of the second. Ward went 3-for-4 at the plate and collected three RBIs for the Bears. The Rox erased a 5-1 deficit with a four-run sixth inning. Brockton RF Keith Brachold belted a two-run homer and LF Ryan Royster and SS Dominic Ramos each drove in a run in the inning. Brachold went 3-for-5 at the plate with two runs scored and two RBIs for Brockton. With the game tied 7-7 in the bottom of the ninth, Matera stepped to the plate with the winning run on second. On a 3-1 count, Matera singled in 1B Burt Reynolds to give the Bears the 8-7 victory. Newark reliever Kyle Morrison pitched a scoreless ninth inning and struck out two hitters to earn the win.
