Cameron Sold to Mets

EL PASO Right-handed pitcher Dustin Cameron has been picked up by the New York Mets organization. Cameron appeared in 33 games for El Paso and was 4-3 with 3.88 ERA, averaging close to 1 strikeout per inning pitched.

"I'm really excited for Dustin," said Butch Henry, El Paso Diablos Field Manager. "It's an opportunity that most guys are looking for, whether it is a second or third chance; first chance in Dustin's case."

A graduate of New Mexico State University, Cameron led the NMSU staff in starts (18), innings pitched (112) and strikeouts (74) in 2004. He tied for the team lead with seven victories and ranked third on the staff with a 5.62 ERA. Dustin threw a team-high two complete games, including a complete game win against Arkansas State in the Sun Belt Conference Tournament.

El Paso opens the season on the road with a four day road trip against the Coastal Bend Aviators on May 10. The Diablos will come home on May 14 for a seven day home-stand opening with a four game series against the 2006 American Association Champions Ft. Worth Cats. The El Paso Diablos are members of the American Association of Professional Baseball.

The Diablos will bring back memorable promotions such as Thirsty Thursdays, Fireworks Fridays and 25 cent Hot Dog Sundays as well as some new surprises.
