
Calvin Maduro Signs with Newark Bears

NEWARK, NJ, June 29-The Newark Bears today announced the signing of right-handed pitcher Calvin Maduro. The team also announced that infielder Bryan Britt has been released.
The 28 year-old Maduro has 68 games of experience pitching in the major leagues. The native of Aruba pitched with the Philadelphia Phillies in 1996 and 1997 and with the Baltimore Orioles in 2000, 2001 and 2002. Last season he was 2-5 with a 5.56 ERA in 12 games (10 starts) for the Orioles. He won 5 games for the Orioles in 2001, appearing in 22 games.
Maduro has won 71 games at the minor league level, including 12 for triple-A Scranton-Wilkes Barre in 1998 and 11 for triple-A Rochester in 1999.
