NEWARK, NJ, June 29-The Newark Bears hit four home runs and shut out the Pennsylvania Road Warriors, 13-0, Sunday afternoon at Bears and Eagles Riverfront Stadium. Newark (27-27) has now hit 57 home runs on the season as a team, 2nd most in the Atlantic League.

Leading 1-0, the Bears scored five times in each of the 5th and 6th innings to blow the game open. In the fifth inning the Bears hit three home runs. Eddie Lara led off the inning with his first homer of the season; Rickey Henderson hit a three run shot, his 7th, later in the same inning; and Francisco Lebron unloaded his 7th home run, a solo blast, also in the fifth.

In the sixth inning, Michael Coleman delivered a two-run single and Wil Quintana followed with a three-run home run, his 12th of the season and third in as many games.

On the afternoon Quintana was 3-5 with the home run, a double, a stolen base, 2 runs scored and 4 runs-batted-in. Mike Piercy was 3-4 with 3 runs scored for the Bears, while teammates Eddie Lara and Francisco Lebron each had two hits and an RBI.

Right-hander Tom Stepka (5-4) picked up the victory, his third in his last four starts. Stepka pitched scoreless baseball over 8 innings, allowing only 5 hits. He struck out 3 batters and did not walk any. Stepka has now defeated Pennsylvania in all three starts he has made against them this season. Newcomer Calvin Maduro tossed a one-two-three ninth inning in his Bears debut.
