September 5, 2003 - Women's Professional Football League (WPFL)
Arizona Caliente News Release
The Arizona Caliente (4-0) take on the SoCal Scorpions (0-4) on Saturday, September 6th at North High School (1101 E. Thomas Rd.) in Phoenix. The two teams met once this season on August 16th, 2003 at Chaparral High School in Temecula, CA, where the Caliente defeated the Scorpions by a marginal 16-14. The Scorpions have started their season facing some of the toughest teams in the WPFL, including 3-time WPFL Champion Houston Energy, and so their record is not a true showing of the talent this team possesses. Coming within 2 points of the Caliente has fueled the Scorpions fire, and they are hoping to come to the Valley of the Sun and give the Caliente their first lose of the season, while the Caliente look to show the SoCal team the the Caliente aren't ready to be beaten. Game time is 7:00pm. Tickets are available at the gate: $12.00 Adult / $6.00 Student-Military/ Children under 10 are Free
Game Day Review for August 30th, 2003 - Final Score AZ 38 - SD 20
The Arizona Caliente women's football team remains UNDEFEATED after 4 games. The Caliente's home opener Saturday night proved to be a forceful one as the team overtook the San Diego SunFire 38-20. Although the temperature in Arizona was hot, the Caliente were hotter. With exciting last second TDs in the 2nd & 4th by the Caliente and a last second score for the SunFire in the 3rd, these 2 teams showed they were not letting a little time running off the clock stop them from playing some great football.
Offensive Player of the Game: #28 Tiffany Latta
Defensive Player of the Game: #92 Kim "EQ" Hoke

Who To Watch
Keep an eye on those line backers. Returning 2 time All-Star #65 Angie Darnell, joined by #41 Drago, #10 Corbett and #9 Murphree(WAFC All-Star), are determined to prove that the Caliente linebackers are collectively the best in the business. Holding opposing teams to an unbelievably low rushing yardage game after game, the linebackers have forced teams to prove that if they want to get yardage, their QB must be able to throw. Review of the defense, rushing allowed in the first 4 games: LA Amazons 41 for -26 , SoCal Scorpions 18 for 15 yards , Az Knighthawks 28 for 93, San Diego SunFire 14 for 33 yards.
