Arizona Caliente News Release
(Phoenix, AZ) - The Arizona Caliente held open tryouts for their 2004 Season on April 17th and May 1st, 2004. The 2004 Season, set to kick-off in the fall, will mark the FOURTH season for the successful full-contact tackle team. The Caliente, who went 8-2 last season, will again be playing with the Women's Professional Football League (WPFL) and look forward to facing some of the best women's football teams in the United States.
In attendance at the open tryouts, joining the many returning veteran Caliente players, were a group of experienced players who have played with other local teams (AZ Knighthawks and AZ Titans) and a few stand out "first-timers". An updated Roster is set to be released on May 8th, 2004 on the team's website.
"There was a great mix of players, and you could already feel the energy level was very high." Noted Caliente Owner and General Manager Jennifer Cada.
"We were extremely pleased with the level of talent at this year's tryouts," said Head Coach Gerry Turley. "It is exciting to see the potential that is out there and that is coming together. We will definitely be adding some depth to our team that has raised the bar for women's football in Arizona."
The team is still conducting private tryouts by invitation for those athletes that could not be in attendance at the open tryouts. If you are interested in trying out for this year's team, it is recommended that you contact Jennifer Cada at 602-679-3960 to arrange for an interview.
The WPFL 2004 Season schedule will be released by June 1st, 2004. For more information on the Arizona Caliente please visit the official team website at www.ArizonaCaliente.com or the WPFL website at www.womensprofootball.com
