Evansville Otters News Release

SCHAUMBURG, Ill. - The Evansville Otters closed out a series win at the Schaumburg Boomers Sunday, as Rob Calabrese delivered a clutch RBI knock and Randy Wynne pitched eight shutout innings to give the Otters a 2-0 win.

On the mound, Randy Wynne was locked in once again, throwing eight shutout innings, surrendering only eight hits while ringing up four, helping push Evansville to a winning record to close out a nine-game road swing.

Offensively, Evansville scored an early run in the top of the second.

With one out in the inning, Anthony Maselli singled up the middle, one of his three singles on the day.

Jack Meggs, the next batter, roped an RBI triple down the right field line to score Maselli, giving the Otters a 1-0 lead.

No runs would be scored until the eighth, with the Otters leaving 10 men on base heading into the inning.

Mitchell Hansen, who was 0-3 heading into the at-bat, hit a leadoff single to right field.

Maselli moved Hansen over to second on a sac bunt with one out.

After Meggs struckout, Calabrese hit a pinch-hit RBI double to the wall in centerfield, scoring Hansen and extending the Otters lead to two.

Abraham Almonte earned his first save of the year, retiring the side in the ninth, with the Boomers' Clint Hardy flying out to Hansen in right field to end the game.

Schaumburg starter Aaron Rozek earned the loss, tossing six innings while allowing one run on eight hits.
