Cal-State Bakersfield Players Sign With Lunkers

Brainerd Lakes Area Lunkers News Release
(Brainerd Lakes Area) - The Brainerd Lakes Area Lunkers of the Northwoods League announced today that right-handed pitcher Thomas Hoenshell and outfielder Andrew Letourneau of California State University Bakersfield have signed contracts to play for the Lunkers this summer, according to general manager Dustin Anaas.
A 6-foot-6 junior from Orange County, Calif., Hoenshell has pitched well in 12 starts for the Roadrunners this season, compiling a 3.31 ERA. Before transferring to Bakersfield, he played for Cypress College in Cypress, Calif., where he had a (10-3) record with a 3.07 ERA during the 2010 season. Hoenshell will be relied on as a starting pitcher for the Lunkers this summer.
Letourneau, a 6-foot junior from Bakersfield, Calif., has been an everyday starter for the Roadrunners this season in center field, hitting .300 with 29 RBIs, along with a .354 on-base percentage. He played at Bakersfield College last season and posted a .383 batting average. He also started as a freshman at Wichita State during the 2009 season.
Tommy and Andrew are two players who have really performed at a high level over the past few years," said Lunkers General Manager Dustin Anaas. "They both played a big part in the success of the Cal-State Bakersfield program this season, and we expect them to be integral pieces of the 2011 Brainerd Lakes Area Lunkers."
The Lunkers Field Manager Ryan Levendoski and Anaas will continue to build the roster until play begins on June 1st. The Lunkers home opener is Wednesday, June 1st at Stewart C. Mills Field when the Lunkers take on the Alexandria Beetles at 7:05 with Fireworks presented by Mills Fleet Farm to follow the game.
