Inland Empire 66ers News Release

San Bernardino, CA - The Inland Empire 66ers newly crowned all-time single season RBI leader C.J. Cron has been placed on the disabled list after undergoing surgery on his right labrum. Cron was leading all of professional baseball in RBI when he was placed on the disabled list with 123. He is replaced on the active roster by Gary Mitchell who was transferred from Low A Cedar Rapids.

C.J. Cron was able to put his name on several 66ers single season leader boards with his phenomenal 2012 season which ends with him being named California League Rookie of the Year and 1st baseman of the year. Cron tied the franchise record for RBI in a single season with 123 in 2012, matching the total posted by Chin-Feng Chen in 1999. That total of 123 also ties him for fourth in franchise history for career RBI in a 66ers uniform.

From May 15th to June 4th, Cron hit safely in 20 consecutive games, only the fourth streak in franchise history to go that far. His 27 home runs was the third most in a single season in franchise history and the eighth most by any Inland Empire or San Bernardino player over the course of his career. He also made the top ten lists in hits in a season tying for 10th with 154 in 2012.

Mitchell has some huge shoes to fill, but he has had a solid 2012 season in Low A with the Cedar Rapids Kernals. Mitchell left the Midwest League as his team's active leader in home runs (14) and walks (42). He played with many of his new 66ers teammates in 2011 as a member of the playoff reaching Orem Owlz.

Inland Empire fans have one final series at San Manuel Stadium during the regular season. Inland Empire is hosting the Lancaster JetHawks this week in a series that will conclude Thursday, August 30th with a Thirsty Thursday presented by Hanger 24. Tickets can be purchased at the 66ers box office and additional promotional information is available online at www.66ers.com.
