Orlando City SC News Release
53 - Days Since Last Defeat
Orlando City is on a ten-game unbeaten streak dating back to August 22, when they fell 3-2 against Inter Miami in Fort Lauderdale. Their streak, the longest in MLS this season, will have spanned 53 days by kickoff of Orlando's Wednesday night game against NYCFC (7:30 pm, FOX35 Plus).
374 - Days Since Last Defeat at Home
Orlando ended the 2019 season with a 5-2 loss to the Chicago Fire at Exploria Stadium. That game, over a full year ago, marked the last time City lost in their downtown Orlando home. While the coronavirus pandemic significantly altered the schedule and reduced the amount of home games that would have been played in that time, Orlando have put together an impressive six-game unbeaten run at home, with four wins and two draws in that stretch.
7 - Wins over NYCFC
Orlando City and New York City FC have a storied history, going back to their inaugural game against each other in 2015. Orlando have beaten NYCFC a club-record seven times, including in the 2017 Exploria Stadium opener, the 2019 U.S. Open Cup quarterfinal-known as the "Running of the Wall" thanks to the supporters section sprinting to the other end of the stadium for the penalty shootout-and in the MLS is Back group stage, when Chris Mueller blitzed the Pigeons with two goals in the first ten minutes in a 3-1 win.
1 - Minutes to Impact
Orlando City added to their already-potent attack on Tuesday, signing Ecuadorian winger Alexander Alvarado on a free short-term loan with an option to buy at the end of the 2020 season. Alvarado starred at the 2019 FIFA U20 World Cup, helping Ecuador to an impressive third-place finish, and was rewarded with his first senior national team cap on September 10, 2019. Alvarado came off the bench in the 85th minute, and within one minute he was on the scoresheet, assisting a Gonzalo Plata goal at 85:02 on the clock.
