Business Club Members Learn Who Benefits from Their Generosity

(Rochester, NY)... Local business men and women sat in silence Tuesday night as Hank Neubert told his family's store to cope with the cancer. The father of six-year-old Aubryn Ma gave an emotional speech to the 50 guests at the Rochester Americans and Knighthawks Business Club event at Burgundy Basin. "I am here as a new father and at 16 months of age my child was diagnosed with cancer. No more than three different times we thought our child was dead. That lady right there has rapidly become my best friend because of what the Ronald McDonald house does for people and for children and parents in need," said Neubert, pointing to RMHC House Manager Cher Niedermaier. "All of us go to McDonald's and throw our pennies in there and none of us know what it does. What is does is saves a family's life."
Hank, 37, and his wife, Amanda, made 85 trips from their home in Ithaca to the Ronald McDonald House in Rochester and Golisano Children's Hospital at Strong. Meanwhile, Aubryn was fighting for her life as she was diagnosed with a Wilm's tumor covering 75 percent of her kidney. Thus her parents called the Ronald McDonald House home for 18 months. Hank even continued his morning routine of shoveling snow, cleaning the pathway to the house. They are forever grateful for the work of Cher and her staff. Presently, Hank and Amanda's daughter is six years old and getting ready to enter first grade.
"Cher and I are different in generations, but she is like a long lost aunt," said Hank. "She is one of my best friends. There is nothing I wouldn't do for the house. I would drive the hour and 45 minutes each day to help Cher and make things easier for parents and the kids."
Last night, the Amerks and Knighthawks Business Club the Rochester Americans and Knighthawks President also enhanced the lives of the families and volunteers at RMHC with the donation of 50 season tickets to the house (over double last year's amount). Today, the Amerks VP of Hockey Operations Ted Nolan and The Amerks Moose will sign autographs and hand out T-shirts to the 20 to 30 kids in the Westmoreland Drive location.
"Hank put everything in perspective," said Nolan. "It shows that when you contribute to charities like the Ronald McDonald House it makes it a better place."
The charity is one of the organizations supported by the newly formed business club, which has grown to 47 members. This season, the Amerks and Knighthawks are offering local businesses a chance to join an exclusive club for the 2010-11 season. As part of the Rochester Americans Business Club, businesses will have a chance to capitalize on the sales and marketing initiatives of one of Rochester's most historic and successful sport franchises. More importantly, they can support local charities like the Ronald McDonald House Charities.
Members of the business club will receive exclusive exposure to the Amerks and Knighthawks extensive fan base. Each member of the Americans and Knighthawks Business Club will also be recognized in our annually distributed catalog and displayed on the team's official website. As an added benefit, businesses can attend up to 10 Business Club Networking events throughout the year to mingle with members of the Amerks ownership group, as well as Ted Nolan, Director of Player Personnel Jody Gage and other special guests. Past events were held at Rick's Prime Rib, Brook-Lea Country Club and Burgundy Basin Inn in Pittsford.
