Burgos' Blistering Free Kick Nominated for Play of the Week
September 1, 2015 - North American Soccer League (NASL)
Atlanta Silverbacks News Release
NEW YORK - Atlanta Silverbacks attacking midfielder Junior Burgos is always a scoring threat, something FC Edmonton learned on its visit to Atlanta Silverbacks Park on Aug. 29. Burgos bludgeoned the Eddies with a physics-defying free kick to win the match, 1-0. His 81st minute goal was his third since joining the Silverbacks for the Fall Season.
The 27-year-old Salvadorian is a set piece sniper, having already claimed one Play of the Week recognition in Week 6 of the Fall.
Against Edmonton, Burgos lined up the 32-yard free kick and swung the bender over the wall and inside the near post. The single goal was all the Silverbacks needed to clinch maximum points at home.
