Bulls Make A Series Of Transactions

AMARILLO, TX - The Amarillo Bulls, proud members of the North American Hockey League announced today (Monday) a series of transactions and roster moves.

The Bulls traded defenseman Sam Johnson to the Kalamazoo Jr. K-Wings. In a second move, defenseman Tyler Rostenkowski was acquired from the Wenatchee Wild. The final move of the day saw forward Kent Sherrer traded to the Bay State Breakers of the EJHL.

Johnson, a native of Dallas TX, played in four games this season for the Bulls and had two assists. The 6-1, 200 pound defenseman, was originally acquired from the Wenatchee Wild last season. In 34 combined games between the two teams, Johnson had 1 goal and 11 assists for 12 points.

Amarillo Bulls Head Coach Dennis Williams said when the team makes a trade they try to make sure that the players go to good home, and can still pursue their dreams of playing NCAA Division I Hockey.

"When we move a guy like Sam, we don't just lose a hockey player but also a really good guy," said Williams on the Amarillo Bulls Radio Show on Monday night. "Sam is just a hardworking guy that all Coaches love. I know Coach Marc Fakler has a great home for him in Kalamazoo. They are a really good hockey team."

Rostenkowski will be very familiar to Amarillo Bulls fans' as he played several games with the rival Texas Tornado before getting traded to Wenatchee. Rostenkowski, a native of Bloomingdale, Illinois, has played in 157 NAHL games where he has notched 12 goals and 33 assists for 45 points. Williams said Rostenkowski, who is committed to Air Force, is looking forward to coming to the Texas Panhandle.

"Tyler is very well known in the South Division," said Williams. "He was very excited when I called and told him about the move. He couldn't wait to get down here and get going."

Sherrer, a native of Columbus Ohio, notched two assists in the Bulls 3-2 win over the Springfield Jr. Blues at the final game of the recently completed North American Hockey League Showcase in Blaine, Minnesota.

After a successful opening night on Saturday, the Amarillo Bulls return to action this weekend with a pair of games in Wichita Falls against the Wildcats. The games are set for Friday and Saturday night at 7:15 pm. Fans can tune into the game live on ESPN1440, www.amarillobulls.com beginning with The Bulls Warm Up Show at 6:55 pm with Denis J.
