Amarillo Bulls News Release

AMARILLO, TX - Six and Twelve...

Those two numbers were big for the Amarillo Bulls on Friday night in their game at the Budweiser Bull Pen in the Amarillo Civic Center against the Odessa Jackalopes.

The Bulls posted their sixth win in a row and 12th straight in the regular season over their rival (dating back to 2011-2012 season) by dumping the Jackalopes 6-1. It was also the fourth time in the last five games where the Bulls have limited the opposition to just one goal. In the sweep of Odessa, Amarillo outshot the Jacks 88-25 in the two games.

"It was a real good weekend for our guys," said Bulls Head Coach Dennis Williams. "As I look back at the weekend, we were able to outshoot out opponent 88-25 so you know things were really working for the team. Our penalty killing did a great job and Paul (Berrafato) made some excellent saves as we gave up some Grade A scoring opportunities."

The game didn't start well for the Bulls as Odessa netted the game's first goal in the first five minutes. However, after that the Bulls seem to take over control, and it started with a goal by Clint Carlisle who scored on a rebound from Omar Mullan and Geoff Fortman. Almost eight minutes later, Mike Davis made it 2-1 as he scored off a face-off win from Hampus Gustafsson. The Bulls outshot Odessa 11-3.

Just 95 seconds into the second period, the Bulls extended their lead to 3-1 when Mike Davis tallied his second of the game from Hampus Gustafsson and Omar Mullan. The Bulls spent much of the second period penalty killing, but Odessa failed to connect on any of its power play opportunities.

"I challenged the guys to just stick to scoring goals and making plays and stay away from the stuff after the whistle," Williams commented. "That is exactly what we did in the third as again it was our best period."

It took the Bulls just 15 seconds of the third period to score their fourth goal. TJ Sarcona's shot found the back of the net from Matt Sieckhaus and John Rey. Just under two minutes later, Sieckhaus increase the Bulls lead to 5-1 when he fired one home from TJ Sherman and TJ Sarcona. Tyler Deresky rounded out the scoring when he scored the Bulls first shorthanded goal of the season. TJ Sarcona added his second assist at 12:41.

Amarillo outshot Odessa 43-13 including 22-4 in the third period. There were seven total power plays in the game with the Jackalopes going 0 for 6, while the Bulls didn't score on their lone attempt which came in the final three minutes of the game.

The Amarillo Bulls return to action next Saturday and Sunday when they travel to Corpus Christi to face the IceRays at American Bank Center. Fans can tune into the action on ESPN1440 and www.amarillobulls.com, beginning with Denis J. Puska and The Bulls Warm Up Show at 6:45 pm on Saturday and 2:45 pm on Sunday.
