Amarillo Bulls News Release
TOPEKA, KS - An incredible and memorable season by the Amarillo Bulls came to an end on Friday night in Topeka, Kansas.
The Bulls dropped a 6-2 decision to the Michigan Warriors in the National Semi-Final of The Robertson Cup North American Hockey League Championship Tournament at the Kansas Expo Center-Landon Arena. The Bulls finished third at the Robertson Cup, while Michigan and Fairbanks will battle for the National Championship on Saturday Night.
It was the third meeting of the season, including a game at the Showcase Tournament in Blaine Minnesota in September. The Bulls had won the first two contests, including a 5-2 win in round-robin action. Special teams proved to be a difference in the game as the Bulls surrendered four power play goals, including two in the opening period. The Bulls offense which controlled a lot of the play at times was stopped by the goaltending of Robert Tadazak as he stopped 29 of 31 shots.
After Michigan raced out to a 2-0 lead, Amarillo cut into the deficit when Mitch Rogge scored from Joe Kozlak and TJ Sarcona.
The Bulls outshot the Warriors 24-18 over the final 40 minutes of play but managed to get just one goal. Michigan scored four consecutive goals to build a 6-1 lead, before TJ Sarcona found the back of the net from Matt Johnson and Zack Smoot.
The Amarillo Bulls would like to thank their fans, and corporate partners for their support during the 2010-2011 season and we look forward to seeing you this fall.
