Amarillo Bulls News Release

WENATCHEE, WA - The Amarillo Bulls saw their two-game winning streak against the Wenatchee Wild come to an end on Saturday night. The Bulls surrendered three consecutive goals and dropped a 4-2 decision to the Wild at Town Toyota Center.

It was the first of a two game series between the two teams and the Bulls first ever visit to the Pacific Northwest. The Bulls failed to gain any ground on the sixth and final playoff spot in the South Division as Rio Grande Valley, which entered the night six-points ahead of the Bulls, lost 6-3 to the Corpus Christi IceRays.

Charlie Combs and Tristan Rostagno tallied for Amarillo and Jacob Weatherly took the loss in goal.

It was a fast skating opening period as the Wild tried to open the game up early on the Bulls. Wenatchee delighted its hometown crowd by scoring first on the power play. The Bulls pulled even when Charlie Combs scored his 17th of the season on a shot that beat goaltender Michael Bullion glove side. Jesper Synellius earned an assist on the play with a pass up to Combs. Three minutes later, the Wild jumped back in front as they tipped home a shot in front of the net. The Wild outshot the Bulls 16-9 in the first period.

The second period started with a four-minute power play for the Bulls as they were given a great opportunity to tie the game. The man advantage came up short as the visitors failed to get anything past the Wild goaltender. The Wild extended their lead to 3-1 when they were able to take advantage of special teams with a power play goal at the side of the net. One of the best chances for the Bulls took place in the final second of the second when Charlie Combs raced in over the blue line. His shot from just inside the blue line was stopped by goaltender Bullion to keep Wenatchee's lead at two goals. The Bulls were outshot 16-7 in the middle stanza.

The Wild tacked on a fourth goal to start the third period when a screen shot beat goaltender Jacob Weatherly. Just 41 seconds later, Tristan Rostagno scored the Bulls' second goal when he converted a big scramble in front of the net from Charlie Combs and Will Harrison.

Bulls Head Coach Jon Rogger pulled Jacob Weatherly in the last two minutes of regulation look to continue the comeback but were unsuccessful as Bullion kept his Wild teammates in front with timely saves. The Wildcats outshot the Bulls 11-6 in the third and 41-22 overall. There were seven total power plays with the two teams. Wenatchee was 2 for 5 and Wenatchee was 0 for 9.
