
Bulls end homestand on winning note

Durham NC - Elijah Dukes three-run double in the 7th inning capped a solid all around night for the Bulls as Durham finished their eight-game homestand by defeating the Ottawa Lynx, 6-1 on Tuesday night at the Durham Bulls Athletic Park. The win gave the Bulls a split on the series and a 5-3 record on the home stand.
Dukes RBI-double gave him 34 runs batted in on the season, which ties him for second-most in the International League with teammate Kevin Witt and Rochester Red Wing Garrett Jones. Brent Butler hit a two-run single with two outs in the bottom of the 4th inning to break a 1-1 tie, and added a double in the eighth inning, making him 2-4 on the night. B.J. Upton stole his league-leading 22nd base in the 4th inning.
RHP Brian Stokes (3-2) picked up the win for the Bulls, going five innings with one earned run on five hits, one walk and six strikeouts. Relievers Scott Dunn, Tim Corcoran, and Jon Switzer combined to pitch four scoreless innings with just one hit and a walk, while Dunn struck out four batters. LHP Eric Dubose (3-3) took the loss for the Lynx, going five and two-thirds innings with three earned runs on four hits, five walks and six strikeouts.
Durham has Wednesday off, but will return to action on Thursday, as they travel to Buffalo to take on the Bisons at 7:00 p.m.
