Bulls Edged by Reign, 4-3, in a Shootout

ONTARIO, Calif. - A penalty-filled contest in the Inland Empire ended with the Ontario Reign (20-7-1-0) completing a third-period comeback and defeating the San Francisco Bulls (11-17-1-2), 4-3, in a shootout, Saturday night at Citizens Business Bank Arena. Jordan Morrison scored two power-play goals to help the Bulls claim a point against the Pacific Division leaders.

Kyle Kraemer put the Reign on top 1-0 with 2:57 left in the first period. Justin Bowers evened the score at one on a power-play tally with just 33.5 seconds left in the opening period. Andrew Crescenzi and Peter Sivak earned the assists. Shots were 10-8 in favor on Ontario after one period of play.

The second period had few chances until Dan DaSilva and Thomas Heemskerk began an altercation that turned into a penalty frenzy with 5:33 left. A total of 71 minutes were handed out, and led to an extended 5-on-3 power play for the Bulls. The Bulls cashed in twice on the man-advantage. Morrison scored with 2:43 and 1:38 remaining in the frame. Joe Sova, Daniil Tarasov, Rob Kwiet and Jesse Todd earned assists on the two goals. The Bulls led 3-1 heading into the third period.

The Reign poured it on in the final period, peppering Heemskerk with 24 shots. Chris Cloud cut it to a 3-2 lead with 9:51 remaining in regulation. Vincent LoVerde tied the game with 2:57 to go in the period, forcing overtime.

After a scoreless overtime, the game went into a shootout. Mario Lamoureux, Jason Beeman and Colton Yellow Horn, with a highlight-reel move, scored for Ontario to secure the 4-3 victory. Dean Ouellet scored the only shootout goal for the Bulls on Chris Carrozzi.

The Bulls return home on Friday, December 28 to host the Las Vegas Wranglers at 7:15 pm at the Cow Palace for Family Night. The first 1,000 fans, 12 and under, receive a youth Bull t-shirt. The Radio Disney Crew will also be on hand from 5-6 pm.
