Amarillo Bulls News Release
AMARILLO, TX - The Amarillo Bulls equaled a five-year-old win streak on Sunday night at the Budweiser Bull Pen in the Amarillo Civic Center
Logan Jenuwine and Alex Peterson each picked up three points as the Bulls dumped the Corpus Christi IceRays 4-1 to sweep a weekend series. The victory was the Bulls 12th in a row that tied a record that was set during the 2012-13 season. It also extended the unbeaten string to 20 games, and first place South Division advantage to 17 points.
Jenuwine had two goals and an assist, while Alex Peterson chipped in a goal and two assists. Trey Bagwell picked up the other goal. Jason Grande had a great game between the pipes coming up with some timely stops including one during the second period.
In the current 9 game home stand, the Bulls have outscored their opponents 33-11 and have allowed only one team to score more than two goals.
In the game, the Bulls were without Head Coach Rocky Russo who was suspended for a game for his actions on Saturday night.
It was a slow start to the contest for the Amarillo Bulls as the visitors came out strong and pushed the home side early. Late in the period, Logan Jenuwine scored on a one timer from Gabriel Seger and Alex Peterson. Corpus Christi outshot Amarillo 11-10 in the first period.
Special teams allowed the Bulls to extend their lead to 2-0 when Trey Bagwell wired a shot from the slot area at the 3:01 mark. The shots on goal were even 20-20 in the through 40 minutes, thanks to a slight advantage by the Bulls.
The IceRays got their power play rolling in the third period and cut the deficit to just one when Jack Smiley scored. However, the Bulls reasserted themselves and scored twice to put the game out of reach. Alex Peterson and Logan Jenuwine found the back of the net. Assists were provided by Peterson, Jenuwine, Gabriel Seger and Brenden Datema.
Each team had 31 shots on goal and scored a power play marker.
The nine game home stand resumes this Friday and Saturday for the Amarillo Bulls with two versus the Odessa Jackalopes at 7 pm at the Budweiser Bull Pen in the Amarillo Civic Center. Saturday is National Milk Day and one lucky fan could win Milk For A Year courtesy of Plains Dairy. Saturday is College Night with discounted tickets for College students.
