Amarillo Bulls News Release
AMARILLO, TX - After having their 20 game unbeaten string snapped the previous night, the Amarillo Bulls took matters into their own hands and bounced back on Saturday night at the Budweiser Bull Pen in the Amarillo Civic Center.
The Bulls broke open a two-goal game with three in the third period and dumped the Odessa Jackalopes 6-2 for their 26th win of the season. Logan Jenuwine scored twice for Amarillo, while Jason Brancheau, Ryan Lautenbach, Alex Peterson and David Ojamae had the others. Brenden Datema and Gabriel Seger each had two assists, and Jason Grande earned the win in goal.
It was a different mind-set to the game for the Bulls, and it didn't take them long to find the back of the net. Ryan Lautenbach followed up a rebound from Brenden Datema and put the puck into the open net. Brett Abdelnour also added an assist on the play. Nearly four minutes later, a mistake behind the net led to the tying goal by the visitors as Jack Conroy scored for Odessa. The power restored the lead late in the stanza, as Alex Peterson picked up a goal from Logan Jenuwine and Jason Brancheau. The Bulls outshot the Jackalopes 12-5 in the first period.
A great rush up the ice powered the Bulls to their third goal of the game and the only marker of the second period. Matt Allen made a move towards the front of the net and David Ojamae was able to follow up the rebound and score to make it 3-1. Jake Willets also picked up a helper. The Jackalopes had several chances to score during the period, but they were turned aside by the strong goaltending of Jason Grande.
The Bulls outshot the Jackalopes 11-8 in the second period.
