Amarillo Bulls News Release

BLAINE, MN - The Amarillo Bulls went two-for-two at the North American Hockey League Showcase in Blaine, Minnesota on Thursday night.

Five different goal scorers and 45 shots on net, powered the Bulls past the Jamestown Ironmen 5-1. Gregg Gruehl faced just 12 shots, including two in the second period but played well to post his second straight victory.

"From the net on out to the last forward, it was a great team effort," said Bulls Head Coach Dennis Williams. "I thought we dominated all three zones and special teams. To get that type of output is always a great day for Bulls' hockey."

Minnesota native Mitch Rogge got the Bulls on the board first in the opening period when he drilled home a shot Jude Warner and Michael Erickson at 15:56. The second period was all Amarillo and the hard work was rewarded when Joe Kozlak tallied on a 5 on 3 power play from Karl Beckman and Matt Johnson.

The scoring rampage continued in the final 20 minutes and included three goals from rookies. Michael Mazzotta fired a power play goal from Luke Jenkins and Karl Beckman. Michael Davis followed that up with a goal from Taylor Ward. Darren McCormick rounded out the scoring on a breakaway marker.

Jamestown spoiled Gruehl's shutout bid with a tally in the final 55 minutes.

The Bulls were 2 for 8 on the power play, while Jamestown had no goals on just two opportunities.

Amarillo will continue its play at the NAHL Showcase tomorrow (Friday) night at 5 pm, with a contest against the Bismarck Bobcats. Fans can tune into the game, live on ESPN1440, beginning with the Bulls Warm Up Show Presented By Wayland Baptist University at 4:45 pm. Denis J. Puska has the exciting play by play call at 5 pm. The game is also available on Pay Per View courtesy of Fast Hockey, and a high speed internet connection is required in order to view the game.
