AMARILLO, TX - And then there were two...
Cody Freeman and Brooks Behling are lone Amarillo Bulls Alums still alive looking to advance to the NCAA Division I Men's Hockey Tournament. Canisius College will play in the Atlantic Hockey Semi-Finals this weekend in Rochester, NY when they face Niagara University. Canisius College swept Air Force 4-3 and then 4-3 in overtime to advance to the conference semi-finals.
Freeman added an assist on the game winner with nine seconds remaining in regulation time of the first game that propelled the Golden Griffins to victory.
Karl Beckman and Holy Cross were eliminated in the third game of their quarter-final series with Mercyhurst 1-0 on Sunday afternoon. Beckman did collect an assist on the game winner for the Crusaders in 3-2 victory on Saturday night. Holy Cross fell in the first game 3-2.
Robert Morris dropped two straight games of their quarterfinal series to UConn 4-1 and 4-3.
In Hockey East, Providence where Brooks Behling is attending advanced to the Hockey East semi-finals after a 3-2 triumph over New Hampshire. The Friars have a date with UMass-Lowell in their semi-final that will take place at TD BankNorth Garden.
Merrimack College saw their season draw to a close when they were ousted by Boston University in two straight games. In game two, John Gustafsson scored for Merrimack in a 5-3 setback.
The Amarillo Bulls are back in action this weekend in Corpus Christi to face the IceRays at American Back Center. The games are set for Saturday at 7 pm and Sunday at 3 pm. Fans can tune into the action live on CBS Sports Radio 1440 and www.amarillobulls.com, and on PPV courtesy of Fast Hockey beginning 15 minutes before the puck is dropped.
