WSHL Monsters Advance to Round 2 of Playoffs

Fresno, CA - The WSHL Fresno Monsters completed a two-game sweep of the San Diego Gulls last weekend at Gateway Ice Center in Round 1 of the Western States Hockey League playoffs. Friday and Saturday the Monsters defeated the Gulls by identical scores of 4-1, both games notching the 4th goal with an empty net. The 1st place Fresno Monsters will now advance to Round 2 to take on the 2nd place Bay Area Seals in a best-of-three series this Friday and Saturday, March 22 & 23 at 4:45PM, and if necessary, Sunday, March 24 at 10:15AM. Admission is $5 at the door with first-come, first-serve seating and standing room. Gateway Ice Center is located at 2473 N. Marks Ave. in Fresno.
The winners of this round will be crowned the Western Division Champion and will advance to the league championships to play for the Thorne Cup. Games will be held Thursday, March 28 through Saturday, March 30 in McCall, Idaho with the final championship game to be played on Sunday, March 31.
The NAHL Monsters will wrap up games 13 and 14 of their 14-game, 28-day road trip this weekend. They will play the Wenatchee Wild Friday and Saturday at 7:05PM PDT in Washington before returning back to Fresno for the last two regular season home games on Friday and Saturday, March 29 and 30 at Selland Arena. With Gateway Ice Center closing its doors on May 1, this could be the last two Fresno Monsters home games.
