AMARILLO, TX - It was another big weekend for Amarillo Bulls Alumni in NCAA action with several players notching their first goals and points of the season.
John Gustafsson scored his first goal of the season and his brother Hampus earned an assist as Merrimack defeated the Mercyhurst Lakers 5-2 on Saturday night. Hampus Gustafsson picked up his assist on a power play goal late in the first period while John's goal was a key insurance marker in the middle stanza.
In Providence Rhode Island on Saturday, Brooks Behling potted two assists as the Friars blasted American International 10-4. Brandon Lubin played in that game for American but didn't figure in the scoring.
Former Bulls Captain John Rey earned an assist on a power play goal as Robert Morris and Niagara University battled to a 3-3 tie. Rey and teammate Greg Gibson went head to head in this Atlantic Hockey contest against TJ Sarcona.
Meantime former Bulls player Ricky DeRosa scored the lone goal for Penn State in a 3-1 loss to Air Force.
This weekend Niagara University (TJ Sarcona) and Canisius College (Geoff Fortman, Cody Freeman) are in Colorado to face Air Force (Tyler Rostenkowski).
The defending national champion Amarillo Bulls hit the ice this weekend and take their eight game winning streak to Rio Grande Valley to face the Killer Bees at State Farm Arena. The games are set for Friday at 7 pm and Saturday at 6:35 pm. Fans can tune into the game live on CBS Sports Radio 1440, www.amarillobulls.com and on PPV courtesy of Fast Hockey, beginning with the Wayland Baptist University Warm Up Show, 15 minutes before the puck is dropped.
It won't be long before the Amarillo Bulls return to the Budweiser Bull Pen in the Amarillo Civic Center. The Bulls renew hostilities with the Topeka RoadRunners next Friday, Nov. 1 and Saturday, Nov. 2 at 7 pm. It's United Way night on Friday with the first 500 fans receiving a magnet schedule. On Saturday there will be $1 hotdogs. Tickets are available at the Bulls Office located at 301 South Polk, Civic Center Box Office and all Panhandle Ticket Outlets including United Supermarkets.
