Bullfrogs Walk-Off on the Mallards

Green Bay, WI. - In the bottom of the ninth inning, Blaise Maris (Sophomore, Florida Tech) scored the winning run from third base on a passed ball to secure the host Green Bay Bullfrog's (27-42, 15-18) 3-2 walk-off triumph over the visiting Madison Mallards (47-22, 19-14) at Joannes Stadium Thursday evening. The Bullfrogs walk-off for the third time this season and improve to 3-4 against the Mallards this summer.

The Bullfrogs grabbed the early 1-0 lead in the second inning on a RBI single by Andre Antone (Freshman, UC Irvine). Madison tied the contest up at 1-1 in the third with a RBI single from Justice Bigbie.

Green Bay took back the advantage in the sixth inning on Adrian Damla's (Sophomore, UC Irvine) to put the Frogs in front 2-1. In the top half of the ninth, Trevor Schwecke and Jake Randa drew back-to-back walks with two outs, setting up the game-tying RBI single by Tyler Plantier tied the score at 2-2.

Maris was hit by a pitch with one out in the ninth inning and then advanced all the way to home on three straight passed balls to score the game-winning run.

Tommy Buckman (Sophomore, Washington College) led the Green Bay offense going 2-for-4 with a double and single. Damla was 1-for-3 with a RBI, while Antone was 1-for-4 with a run driven in. Maris and Keaton Smith (Junior, Nevada) each finished 1-for-4 with one run scored.

Green Bay relief pitcher David Toth (Freshman, Hillsdale College) earned the win, improving to 2-3. Madison reliever Trace Norkus took the loss, dropping to 3-3. Bullfrogs starter Cody Norman (Sophomore, Univ. of La Verne) posted a solid start on the mound, tossing 5 1/3 inning with one run allowed and a season-high five strikeouts.

Both teams wrap-up the season series tomorrow night from The Duck Pond at Warner Park. First pitch is slated for a 7:05 p.m. start.
