Green Bay, WI- There is no doubt about it, these are the heavy weights of the South Division. The Kenosha Kingfish (35-18/12-5) and the Green Bay Bullfrogs(32-20/10-7) have been neck-and-neck the entire season. They meet again for their third series of the year.

Showcasing an impressive 3-1 record against Kenosha, the Bullfrogs had a recent weekend split with Duffy Dyer's club in which Green Bay impressively roped in a 7-1 victory in the last game behind Garrett Harrison (St. Cloud State).

Bullfrogs Rattle Rox Thanks To Excellent Starting Staff

Green Bay's last series in St. Cloud was no doubt a test of this team's will. They had just endured their first sweep of the season losing two games by just three total runs to the Duluth Huskies.

When they arrive dto St. Cloud to make up the suspended affair from May 29th, that game did not go Green Bay's way either as the Bullfrogs fell in 14 innings, 3-2.

But the originally scheduled July set to end their tour of the North Division did end up in Green Bay's favor. Ryan Radue went 6IP/3R/2ER/3K-3BB in his best start of the season in Friday night's thriller.

The Bullfrogs' offense scored in three consecutive innings including a three-run third in which Robb Paller (Columbia) belted a sacrifice fly and Danny Rosenbaum (Louisville) came up with a clutch two-RBI single.

Matt De La Rosa (Lenoir-Rhyne) notched the save, his first, leaving the bases loaded to end the game. It was an unlikely finish with an embraced outcome.

When you look back at this most recent series, it can be noted as one of the best series Green Bay has had all year. They beat the best team in the North Division this half, found ways to win one-run games, and did so on the road in front of two supportive home crowds.

Kenosha Sweeps Double-Header With Rafters

Once it looked like Kenosha might be in a downhill slide after a sweep on the road against the Wisconsin Woodchucks, the Kingfish responded with a double-header sweep of the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters on Friday.

Coming from behind the first game to win 5-2, the Kingfish finished off an excellent evening with a 4-2 win to sweep.

This is a team stacked with great hitters. All-star Eric Filia (UCLA) owns a .322 AVG (59-for-183) and accumulated two hits and four walks against the Bullfrogs in the last series at Simmons Field.

Another one of those warning tape hitters is Jason Scholl (Eastern Illinois). His eight home runs are top five in the Northwoods League.

Kenosha's likely starter against the Bullfrogs is likely Brendon Allen (Eastern Illinois) who beat the Bullfrogs in 6IP/3R (1ER) baseball on July 11th. Allen was not dominant by any stretch. He was smacked for eight hits, but the Bullfrogs stranded seven on the base paths.

Bullfrogs Back Home Before All-Streak Break

The first 17 days of July were packed with only three home games. That tumultuous stretch is over. And the Bullfrogs survived. Although the team is still two games behind the Kingfish in the second half standings, they are still in prime position to make the playoffs.

Green Bay also received anchored starts from Ryan Radue (UConn) and Sam Brunner (Dayton) their last two games, strengthening their bullpen heading into a paramount two-game home set.

Now four players in the starting lineup enter with a batting average .300 or above. Brian Celsi (.310) and Danny Rosenbaum (.300) each rapped two hits in their last contest. And Logan Taylor (.324) and Robb Paller (.350) have been inning starters hitting back-to-back in the order.

The play of Matt De La Rosa has also signaled a recent offensive improvement. He has been hitting the ball extremely hard going 4-for-7 over his last two games. He also has logged four pitching appearances (all in July) with a 1.50ERA/6IP/SV.

For today, Green Bay also gets back Alex Martinez (De Anza) a right-handed starter who recently arrived from California. With the Bullfrogs in 2015, he has a 2-1/2.25ERA/24IP. His last start was on June 25th in which he spun six scoreless frames against the Battle Creek Bombers.

Looking for their third straight win back at home, first pitch for the duel with Kenosha is set for 12:05PM from Joannes Stadium.

Single game tickets are on sale now. Visit www.greenbaybullfrogs.com to purchase tickets. The Bullfrogs' business hours are Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
