Bullfrogs Announce 2016 Schedule

Green Bay, WI - The Green Bay Bullfrogs of the Northwoods League have announced their 2016 schedule. The Northwoods League will play a 72-game schedule with the Bullfrogs hosting 36 regular season games at Joannes Stadium.

The Bullfrogs will open their season at home on May 31st. Joannes will host 14 games in May/June, 13 in July, and nine in August. The 2016 schedule features 24 home games that fall on a Thursday, Friday, Saturday or Sunday.

The first half of the season will be complete at the end of play on Tuesday, July 5th, with the second half beginning on Wednesday, July 6th. The first and second half division winners from both the North and South Divisions will automatically earn a playoff berth. The next two best overall records on the season in each division will also earn a spot in the playoffs. If the same team wins both the first and second half in their division, the next three best overall records in that division will get the three remaining playoff spots. The North and South divisions will each have two single elimination playoff games, with the Division Champions squaring off in a best-of-three series for the Summer Collegiate World Series. The Summer Collegiate World Series will take place August 18th through August 20th.

For the fourth consecutive year, the Madison Mallards will host the Northwoods League Major League Dreams game. This exhibition double header will be held Tuesday, August 9th, and will feature the Top 100 players in the Northwoods League. The players will be voted on and selected by Major League Baseball scouts. Game one is scheduled for 4:05 pm, with game two at 7:35 pm.

The Northwoods League will be welcoming a new franchise in Rockford, Illinois for the 2016 season, while saying goodbye to the Alexandria Blue Anchors. Rockford will be a member of the South Division, while the La Crosse Loggers transition to the North Division. The North Division franchises include the Eau Claire Express, Thunder Bay Border Cats, Waterloo Bucks, Mankato MoonDogs, Duluth Huskies, Willmar Stingers, La Crosse Loggers, St. Cloud Rox, and Rochester Honkers. The South Division is comprised of the Green Bay Bullfrogs, Kenosha Kingfish, Wisconsin Rapids Rafters, Madison Mallards, Lakeshore Chinooks, Wisconsin Woodchucks, Kalamazoo Growlers, Battle Creek Bombers, and the expansion franchise in Rockford.

The Bullfrogs will play their inter-divisional games against the Duluth Huskies and Eau Claire Express. Bullfrogs season tickets, 7-game packs, and group ticket packages are available now.
