Cleveland OH - Hamilton Bulldogs captain Benoit Gratton scored at the 11:47 mark of the third period to give Hamilton the go ahead goal and a 4-2 series victory over the Cleveland Barons in Game #6 of the AHL North Division Semifinal on Sunday.
Cleveland opened the game's scoring at the 6:19 mark of the first period when Barons' forward Shane Joseph scored his fifth goal of the playoffs. Tavis Hansen and Greg Labenski earned assists on the play.
At 10:52 of the second period, the Bulldogs Chris Higgins' evened the score 1-1 by scoring his third goal of the playoffs. Adding assists for Hamilton were Jean-Philippe Cote and Eero Somervuori.
In the third period, Gratton scored the game-winner at 11:47 with the assists going to Somervuori and Patrick Traverse on the play.
Bulldogs goaltender Jean-Francois Damphousse picked up his fourth playoff victory by making 27 saves. Barons' goaltender Nolan Schaefer stopped 31 shots, while suffering the loss.
The Hamilton Bulldogs next action will take place on Tuesday, May 4th at Copps Coliseum as the Bulldogs host the Rochester Americans in Game #1 of the AHL North Division Final best-of-seven series. Notes: Defenceman Karl Dykhuis, who was assigned to the Bulldogs on Friday, saw action for the first time since playing for the Montreal Canadiens on March 31.
