Hamilton Bulldogs News Release

HAMILTON, ONT. - Four different goal scorers and 32 saves from goaltender Joey MacDonald led the Hamilton Bulldogs (26-19-6-0) to a 4-1 win over the Rochester Americans (22-27-4-0) at FirstOntario Centre on Wednesday night.

Hamilton forward Sven Andrighetto opened the scoring when forward Daniel Carr found him in the slot and Andrighetto ripped his 12th goal of the season at 17:55 of the first period. Defenceman Joe Finley had a second assist.

Just 25 seconds into the second period, Bulldogs forward Gabriel Dumont hit forward Nick Sorkin with a pass, then Sorkin deked and slid the puck along the ice past Americans goaltender Matt Hackett for his seventh goal of the season to give Hamilton a 2-0 lead. Defenceman Davis Drewiske had a second assist on the play, while Dumont's primary assist extended his current point streak to six games, tying a season high for the 'Dogs.

Rochester forward Brayden Irwin got his club on the board at 14:58 of the second period, assisted by forward Phil Varone and defenceman Jake McCabe. But just over three minutes later, Hamilton forward T.J. Hensick went short-side, top shelf on Hackett for his 14th goal of the year to restore the two-goal lead, 3-1. Forward Drayson Bowman and defenceman Darren Dietz drew assists.

Despite 12 shots on goal by Rochester in the final frame, the third period's only goal came from Hamilton forward Jake Dowell at 18:15 to seal the game for the 'Dogs, 4-1. Dowell's third of the season was into an empty net and assisted by Drewiske.

MacDonald made 32 saves on 33 shots for the Bulldogs in the win, while Hackett stopped 24 of 27 shots faced for the Americans in the loss.

Hamilton went 0-for-2 on the power play, while Rochester was 0-for-3 with a man advantage.
