November 9, 2004 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Hamilton Bulldogs News Release
The Hamilton Bulldogs announced today the hockey club, in cooperation with the City of Hamilton, will honour Hamilton Tiger-Cats Alumni with a special tribute prior to the 'Black and Gold' game on Friday, November 26th, when the Bulldogs host the St. John's Maple Leafs at Copps Coliseum.
"The Bulldogs are pleased to continue the tradition of honouring past Hamilton sports successes," said Hamilton Bulldogs, Executive Director of Operations, Brian Lewis. "With our community's re-embracing of the Tiger-Cats, it is fitting that our committee take the tribute off of the ice and onto the gridiron in paying respects to the many great players in the Hamilton Tiger-Cat Alumni Association. We thank the City of Hamilton, the Hamilton Tiger-Cats, The Tiger-Cat Alumni Association and the Vanier Cup Committee for partnering in this special evening."
The pre-game tribute for the 'Black and Gold' game will include a Dinner and Civic Awards Ceremony in the Bulldogs Season Ticket Holders Lounge at Copps Coliseum, and an on-ice tribute honouring the Tiger-Cat Alumni. As well, the Hamilton Bulldogs players will be wearing special 'Black and Gold' jerseys for this game only. The 'Black and Gold' jerseys will be auctioned off at the end of the game with proceeds from the auction going towards the Hamilton Bulldogs Youth Fund.
"The Bulldogs and Tiger-Cat Alumni both strive to enrich our city through charity and community events such as the 'Black & Gold' game," said Bob Krouse, a former Hamilton Tiger-Cats player and Alumni Association president. "The Alumni is looking forward to their involvement and appreciate being honoured in this fashion. It should be a great evening."
Twenty-Five Hamilton Tiger-Cat Alumni have confirmed to be in attendance on November 26th to celebrate the rich Hamilton Tiger-Cats history.
In previous seasons, the Hamilton Bulldogs have honoured local championship teams including: the Hamilton Fincups, the Hamilton Red Wings, and McMaster University Men's & Women's hockey teams. Last season, the Bulldogs honoured past and present NHLers from the Hamilton area at the 'Heroes of Hometown Hockey' game.
Fans can purchase tickets to the dinner and game for $30. Bulldogs season ticket holders wishing to attend the dinner can purchase dinner tickets for $15. For more information or to purchase tickets contact Jessica Morgan at 905-529-8500 ext. 325.
