Bulldogs Snag Steelheads 5-3

HAMILTON, ONTARIO. The Hamilton Bulldogs finished the weekend beating the Mississauga Steelheads 5-3 at FirstOntario Centre.

The Bulldogs power-play had a good 1st period as Justin Lemcke (5) buried a rebound at 13:27 for a 1-0 lead, followed at 18:39 as Brandon Saigeon (12) took a perfect pass to make it 2-0.

Mississauga got on the board at 5:50 of the 2nd, to cut the Bulldogs lead to 2-1 after two periods.

In the 3rd, Matthew Strome (14) made it 3-1 Black and Gold at 7:20 followed by a Marian Studenic (11) goal at 11:10 that put the Bulldogs ahead 4-1. However, the Steelheads cut the lead to 4-2 at 12:18 and then on a power-play and the goalie on the bench, Mississauga made it a 4-3 hockey game at 18:23. But, Brandon Saigeon (13) found d the empty net at 19:57 to make the final 5-3.

The Bulldogs out-shot the Steelheads 32-24.

With the win, the Bulldogs record improves to 16-6-3-3.

Hamilton is back on home ice Wednesday night as they host the Guelph Storm at FirstOntario Centre.
