Bulldogs Sign Two More Players
July 26, 2007 - American Basketball Association (ABA)
Corning Bulldogs News Release
Corning, NY. The ABA Corning Bulldogs have announced the signings of two more players for the team that will begin play in November.
According to James R. Schutz, co-owner and General Manager, "We already have a total of nine players on the roster. We will have the best the ABA has to offer in size, quickness and overall talent." The newest additions are:
Maurice Jones, 6'7 forward. Played in 2003-2004 for Corning Community College where he averaged 15.4 points, 12.6 rebounds and 3.0 blocks per game en route to being named 1st team All Conference and 2nd team All Region. Maurice left college to pursue a pro basketball career, a decision that has worked out very well for him. He spent the 2005-2006 season playing for the Harlem Ambassadors who tour the world and are similar to the Harlem Globetrotters. Maurice spent this past season playing half the season for the ABA Brooklyn Wonders and the last half of the season back on tour with the Harlem Ambassadors. He will give the Bulldogs a veteran pro down in the post who can team up with 6'8 former NCAA D-1 star Will Campbell out of the University of Alabama Birmingham.
Brandon Mitchell, 6'9 forward, who played two years of junior college basketball for Morrisville State College where he used his size and athleticism to put up 9.6 points, 9.5 rebound and 5.2 blocks per game en route to being named All Conference and 3rd team All Region. Mitchell was also selected to play in the Region 3 Junior College All Star Game where he was not only a star on the court during the game, but he also showcased his skills as one of the best dunkers around during the slam dunk contest. He has the size and talent to have continued his playing career at any college in the country. Instead he chose to go pro and play for the Corning Bulldogs. We would not be happier about his decision.
