
Bulldogs End 2004 with a Shutout Victory

GRAND RAPIDS, MI - The Hamilton Bulldogs ended the 2004 year with a 5-0 shutout win over the Grand Rapids Griffins at the Van Andel Arena on Friday night. Goaltender Yann Danis earned his second shutout of the season by stopping all 29 shots he faced on the night. The Bulldogs also scored a season high four power-play goals in the contest.
The Bulldogs five goal win over the Griffins marked Hamilton's largest margin of victory this season.
After a scoreless first period, the Bulldogs scored two goals in the second period. Forward Raitis Ivanans gave the Bulldogs a 1-0 lead, when he earned his first career Bulldogs goal, by blasting a shot past Griffins goaltender Joey MacDonald at 11:03. Earning assists for the Bulldogs were Jonathan Ferland and Corey Locke.
The Bulldogs went ahead 2-0 when Marc-Andre Thinel scored with just 39 seconds remaining in the second period on the power-play. Thinel fired a shot under the cross bar to earn his fourth goal of the season. Jason Ward and Dan Jancevski added assists on the play.
Hamilton would score three more goals in the third period to earn a 5-0 victory. Tomas Plekanec, Duncan Milroy and Dan Focht all scored in final period for the Bulldogs.
Also of note, earning multi-point games for the Bulldogs were Dan Focht (1g,2a), Jonathan Ferland (2a), and Corey Locke (2a).
With the victory, the Bulldogs record through 34 games now stands at 13 wins, 15 losses, 4 overtime losses, and 2 shootout losses.
