Bulldogs Clipped in Overtime

TORONTO, ON - Despite out-shooting the Toronto Marlies 40-29, the Hamilton Bulldogs dropped a 2-1 decision in overtime on Sunday afternoon at Ricoh Coliseum. With the regulation tie, Hamilton was able to pick up one point and increase it's total to 79 on the season with a record of 36-22-3-4.

The Marlies opened the scoring at 5:24 of the first period when Tyson Nash notched his 13th goal of the season. Nash picked up a loose puck at the side of the Bulldogs net and beat starting goaltender Philippe Sauve with a low shot along the ice.

After a scoreless second period, Hamilton tied the game 1-1 at 11:50 of the third frame. On a 5-on-3 power play, Jonathan Ferland chipped home his 18th tally of the campaign. Mikhail Grabovski and Danny Groulx earned assists on the goal.

Colin Murphy then scored the game-winning goal in overtime on the power play at the 3:23 mark to lift the Marlies to a 2-1 victory. Staffan Kronwall picked up the lone helper on the game's deciding goal.

Veteran forward Eric Manlow played in his 500th career AHL game, going scoreless with three shots on goal.

Between the pipes, Sauve turned aside 27 of the 29 shots he faced in a losing effort for the Bulldogs, while Justin Pogge made 39 saves on 40 shots to earn the win for the Marlies.

Hamilton was 1-for-7 on the power play while Toronto was 1-for-5 with the extra-man.

The Bulldogs return to action on Friday, March 16th at 7:30 p.m. when they travel to the Onondaga County War Memorial at Oncenter in Syracuse to battle the Crunch.
